In Jerusalem, Olcott set up his team the ramparts

In Jerusalem, Sidney Olcott and his team moved to the Fast Hotel, named of M. Fast the owner, a German. The modern facility is ten years old. It was built to accommodate the flow of Western tourists who come from more and more pilgrims. It is conveniently located outside the walls between the door Newfoundland and Jaffa Gate, at the intersection of two roads chic Jaffa and Mamilla Road. The Champs-Elysees of the Holy City. The area is elegantly adorned with beautiful Ottoman houses and shops, run by renowned photographers, mostly Armenians.

1947 war between Jews and Arabs resulted in a line that intersects two Jerusalem. It goes through Jaffa Road, insulating the Hotel Fast severely damaged and abandoned.

1967 saw the victory of the Israeli army on Arab troops. Jerusalem is totally annexed to the Jewish state that is sweeping the aftermath of his victory. The shops along the wall and the Jaffa Gate were destroyed to clear the walls and enlarge the street to traffic. The Fast Hotel was razed. The Pearl Hotel resumes cm2 near the footprint of the old hotel but Fast, front and gables are rounded. In September 2009, a panel announced its renovation. Nothing has been done. In 2014, a guardian of the place told me it was going to be razed.
