Valentine Grant wanted to sing. Sid Olcott turned her into a movie actress but he failed to make her a star. They shared their lives until the end. The
newspapers praise her qualities as an actress but nothing
more.

But, the most important is elsewhere, the young woman and
her Pygmalion
have become very close to the point of living together.
Not everything is clear in their relationship. There are areas of shadow as the date of their marriage for example. 1918, The Belgian is a pivotal film in the career of Olcott. He left Paramount to fly on his own. Despite this hot topic - the First World War - the success is not there. Valentine Grant's film career ends. It does not put its public life in parenthesis. One finds it among others engaged alongside Olcott in some combats like the rights of the prisoners ... In the thirties, the couple settles in Los Angeles. He leads a worldly life there. Early in 1949, Seriously ill Valentine was hospitalized at the Saint-Jospeh Hospital in Orange. She expired on 12 March. Valentine Grant is buried in San Diego, Cypress View Mausoleum, alongside one of her aunts. Sid Olcott will not accompany him. To the astonishment of his friends, his testament mentioned that he wanted to be buried in Toronto, with his dear mother.
